I will be flying back to KK late this year and will be transiting in Singapore. Looking at the exchange rate today, A$1 = RM 2.96, A$1 = SGD 1.21 and 1A$ = 0.84 USD. The Aussie dollar is getting strong again. Time for gadgets shopping.
So I wrote down a list of things I wanted to buy:
1. Tamron 90SP Macro lens (bought from DigiCiti for A$445)
2. Nikkor 70-200 2.8 telezoom lens (less then A$600)
3. Acer T1810 or similar size laptop with HD screen and good battery life (less then A$800)
4. Nokia N900 (less then A$900)
5. Camera shoulder bag (less then A$100)
6. NAS storage for my collections of pictures and movies (less then A$200)
7. Second hand Nikon D300 (less then A$1000)
There is no priority on the list but there is a lot of money to spend. Lets hope the Aussie $ will get stronger and I will have more oversea $ to spend.
:D

Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64 as a Desktop Operating System
I have been using Windwos Server 2008 as desktop OS for a while. Recently I have downloaded the R2 from Technet and thought of trying it out.
The upgrade process went without issue, though it took a long time. The workstatsion restarted, then I try to activate it with the product code I got it from my subscription. Not working. I thought, something is not right. After a few minutes I realized the R2 iso I downloaded was a Release candidatre and I was using the RTM producy key.
So I redownloaded the RTM R2 again and try to burn it to DVD. Not working again, the CDBurningXP I was using before said "device failed to initialized". I remember in Windows 2003 days I need to enable a "IMAPI burning service" or something. A quick check but can not find the service in the list. I quick search in Google suggested me to try out a software calls ImgBurn. It only burns images to DVD/CD but at least it allowed me to burn a new Windows Server 2008 R2 DVD and reinstall it again.
I now have a full working activated Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise x64. I then start to turn on the Aeroglass theme and the sound effects. No problem at all. Try to watch some DVDs and video clips using VLC and storm player. No problem too. Adobe Lightroom seems to work fine, Office application has no problem too.
So I guess its only left the DVD burning feature that is missing for now. I will see what Miss Google says.
