Yup after weeks of stress work dealing with Canada, I had finally departed from Perth and reached KK. It is holiday time.
Since Australian exchange rate was getting worse a few weeks ago, I have predicted that the gadgets will be more expensive in Aussie. That said, I have managed to upgrade my Nikon D90 with a good deal. I also bought a backup camera duty free before I departed from Perth airport.
So how much did I spent to upgrade my D50 kits to D90? I bought the D90 with 18-55mm lens for A$1453. I sold the kit lens for A$205 and also sold my old D50 for A$400. That means I paid A$848 for the upgrade. While I was laughing about the deal I just realized that I purchased the camera 30 days before I departed Perth, so Australia Tourism Refund Scheme gave back my 10% GST which was another A$132?? That is a total of A$716 for the upgrade. :)
Another deal was the Sony T77 I bought duty free in the airport. I knew the D90 price in Aussie was about rm100 difference after conversion (rm 2.3 = A$ 1 at the time of writing this). The T77 costed A$359 in the airport, thats RM 825+. When I was shopping around in one of the shopping center in KK, the same camera is selling at RM 1299. Thats another A$150 saving?
Well, one can argue that I will save more if I didn't upgrade my camera or even purchase a backup camera. I understand that, but I just can't help it. :P
Just updating some of the links I had in my photo gallery for this year so far. Most of the later photos I took was with my D50 and Nikon 18-200 VR lens. Not the best combination for sports but I am happy with the walk about results.
