Gaya Street - KK traditional market place?

Today my mum woke me up fairly early. Normally she will go out around 7am to her shop. I was a little surprise as that was one of the few morning she woke me up during this trip back to KK. "Its a Sunday, you want to join your dad to Gaya street or now", she said in Hakka. Oh well, one think I never do since I came back from Perth this holiday is, say NO. So I took my camera and went out with my dad and aunt. (Click here for more photos)

Gaya St is just a normal street in weekdays and Saturday. However, it will turn to a market full of ppl on Sunday. What you can find here are ermm.. foods, fruits, dogs, cats, veges, house decorations, furnitures, plants, clothes, CDs, traditional medicines etc, etc.. you got the idea.

After leaving KK for almost 8 years, I can't actually recall how many time I went to Gaya St again since then, but the market was there even when I was young (not that I am very old now). Its even more 'exciting' as it extends the market to the rear side of another building.

FOr those ppl who happens to visit KK and happens to be a Sunday, Gaya St is a must to visit.

Air Asia convinced me with good business strategy

I had a trip to KL as you know. I flew to KL via Air Asia. I sat in the plane and hanging at the Low Cost Terminal for like 5 hours. I also read about AirAsia is about to fly to Perth. I then chatted with my brother who read lots about business stories and from a commerce background ( I am like orang asli in this field).
He told me about the musician that purchased AirAsia with $1 and turned the lossing business into a successful story in airline industry. The strategies I can see and impressed,

1. efficiency of the airport operations. Plane normally stopped for passengers and luggage loading within 30+ minutes. Planes are seen to be parked at a way were reverse is not needed. Maybe this has been implemeted in the major airport but its still impressed me.

2. cost savings. Most plance I can see in the LCT are near brand new (type Boeing 737-300s), this was pointed out that the plane will be replaced if found any sign of problems with the plane itself. This save the long term repair cost.
Selving no food and drink by default means less overhead to the customer, and this of coz is believed to be one of the reason why AirAsia can provide a lower air fare to their customer.
The whole ticketing system is 'ticketless' and mainly over the Internet, saving cost of ticketing and agent fees.
Secondary airports like the KL LCT are being used. These saved huge cost in expensive aircraft landing and parking fees.

3. promotions: Free seats, heavy discounted air fare, are common with Air Asia. This attracts lot of passengers and encourage tourism within Malaysia. In the most effetive way, gave very deep impression for Malaysian about the 'Everyone can Fly' concept.

There should be more that I haven't thought of. However, some of my reading supports my observations: See
